Sentient Beings

The work explores the concept of sentience. The ability to perceive one's environment, and experience sensations such as pain and suffering, or pleasure and comfort. A being that is sentient has the ability to receive internal sensation and information from its environment, and then interpret this as an emotion. Our society still discusses to what degree animals are sentient beings. This work raises the question if sentience is the key ingredient to all life no matter how its appearance. It also makes us think about what hides behind our own sentient existence. Aren't we all hiding layers of different existence within ourselves? The ambiguity of how we are connected to other beings in this world stirs uncomfortable emotions. In the end, we all nourish each other in this realm of life and death.
